Specialising in Addiction and Family Support, Aine completed her training with the International Addiction Counsellor Training Programme and graduated with a Diploma in Addiction Counselling and a Diploma in Addiction Studies. Other training includes working with Adult Survivors of Sexual Abuse, Anger Management, Bereavement and Loss, Group facilitation and Assist Suicide Awareness.
During her training Aine worked in Aiseiri Rehabilitation Centre in Co. Wexford and on completion of her training was offered a job with the Columba Community in Derry City where she worked between The Yard Project in Derry City and White Oaks Rehabilitation Centre in Co. Donegal. In the past four years Aine has been self- employed in Co. Fermanagh where she lives and has worked in Action Mental Health delivering and developing The Impact of Alcohol Programme 12 week programme called the Time Out Programme. She also worked with Nexus N.I. who counsels Adult Survivors of sexual abuse for over five years and in the Aisling Centre, Enniskillen where she worked in outreach with the Probation Service N.I. and in the centre itself. Aine has also developed an accredited One Day Education/ Family Programme on Addiction which she has delivered in many counties throughout the northern region.
Aine has a special interest in addiction as a family disease – it is through her own personal experience; and is passionate about the whole family getting help for its effects. Aine is an Al-anon Family Group member for over twenty years.
